Dear Art Explorer,
I think a lot of us start making art because we’re curious.
We see someone using watercolours or soft pastels or acrylic markers and think:
“Wait, that looks SO fun.”
But somewhere along the way, art can get very serious, very fast.
Like, we have to pick one medium, get good at it fast, buy the “right” supplies, have a consistent style and so on. You get it, right?
And honestly? That pressure can suck the joy right out of creating.
So I made this guide for the curious artists.

This Guide is for You
If you are the kind of artist who wants to explore various media, try new things and play more with your supplies without chasing perfectionism.
Putting this guide together reminded me of how much joy there is in exploring new materials, making messy experiments and allowing ourselves to create without needing everything to be perfect.
My hope is that these pages inspire you to try something new, revisit an old favourite medium or simply spend a little more time making art.
Most of all, I hope this guide reminds you that creativity isn’t something reserved for a select few. It’s something you can return to whenever you need a little wonder, play or joy in your day.
I’m so grateful you’re here, and I’m cheering you on every step of the way.
